Can you improve my website traffic? Quick Fix No.10

The next quick-fix project I want to share with you involves improving website traffic by introducing a stream of organic visitors on a small budget.

The brief

"Can you improve my website traffic? Oh, and I don't have a big budget."

It's not unusual to be asked for help and given a small budget. Sometimes, that's about the size of the company; sometimes, it's about their confidence in a tactic. In this case, there's a little of both. The client has financial constraints for the project and isn't sure it's the right move for them.

The Quick Fix

I always start every project with a research phase. I need to understand what the client has in play if it is optimised and what their competition is.

In this case, the website had no content beyond the base web pages, and competition was rife.

My plan was to establish a new traffic funnel to the site via a blog written for our clients. The articles had to be valuable and helpful enough to attract the first visitor and, over time, build a returning visitor funnel.

Results

By September 2024, Google Search Console had given us our 800 clicks badge, which was upgraded to 1,000 by October. Organic traffic is starting to come in.

Based on a six-month comparison, I have grown our traffic clicks by 643.9%.

Our search impressions by 310.6%

And our click through rates are up almost 100%.

Using a strong keyword strategy, I have also helped us gain much higher ranking positions across a much wider keyword base.

Our Google My Business profile has also seen a boost and is now bringing in leads. The difference in our digital attraction method is clearly due to regular client-focused blogging.

“Six months feels like a long time,” you might ask. Honestly, if we’d had the budget, I could have achieved the same in far less time, but you have to work with what you are given. As I say, this isn’t unusual; businesses have constraints. The most important thing is that you deliver based on what you have to work with.

Next steps

The client has been much more keen to continue, and despite budget pressures, I am still blogging to attract more traffic. They now have much more confidence in that tactic. Further to this, if opportunity allows, I’d like to explore other content types that could help build traffic and prospective leads.

Watch this space, and let’s see how this progresses.
