"Quick Fix No.3" - How to increase website traffic in 3 months
Welcome to “quick fix” content SEO case study number 3, where today we are looking at a client who came to me with a website that was getting zero impressions from search engines.
I’ll show you how, quarter on quarter, I am improving their site visibility and their traffic from SERPs.
"Create a stream of SEO-driven content that directs targeted traffic from Google to the website."
This business operates in the highly competitive business IT support industry. Competition isn’t just regional, but local too. Google’s Bard told me, “There are over 500 IT support companies in London, UK, according to Clutch.co.” I would suggest that it’s much higher.
Of course, most have invested in their website, which wasn’t the case with this client.
Let’s explore the initial problems I faced.
The website had no blog and no service page offer. Anyone arriving on site would have needed help to realise what the business was and what it stood for.
Worse than that, no web page had been optimised for search engines. That meant no keywords or phrases being targeted and no SEO signals to Google.
Let’s be honest; there’s no quick fix here without a big budget, which we’ve struggled against. It hasn’t stopped me from priming the site where I can. So, I started with website SEO.
Once finished, I started a blog, creating content on a very broad topic base because nothing was establishing this business as an authority in IT service provision. From here, I made a few changes for the last quarter.
Let’s see how that works.
After one year of work, we take our snapshot, focusing our chart on Q3 compared to Q2 2023.
Across that last period, we have:
13 blog posts published
19,700 impression increase
75 more clicks, increasing CTR to 0.4%
There have also been increases in service consultations.
How did I do it? I reworked our strategy to switch from a very broad and general blog content plan to one that solved problems for key decision-makers.
I would like to continue developing our content plan by running a keyword gap analysis with some local key players. From here, I can start giving our content base a lift with higher visibility among the direct competitors. Let’s see if we can’t make a splash in 2024!
